Wilkie Collins collection, 1861-1877.

Collection of eight letters from Collins to various people, and one holograph playscript. There are two letters to H. de Villemessant; also a letter addressed to Seaver (possibly Edwin P. Seaver), written from Boston in March 1874 as a farewell note of thanks on returning to England, acknowledging hospitality and recommending his godson for employment. A letter to Sampson Low, Jr. in July, 1863 refers to Sir John Everett Millais' illustrations for Collins' No Name. Other recipients are Mrs. Casella, Norris J. Foster, George Gregson, and Collins' printer in 1861. The letter to George Gregson is accompanied by an engraving of Collins made from a photograph. There is also an holograph first draft of the play No Name as Collins adapted it from his novel.
